Dota 2 stats explained: what's a good GPM, KDA and win rate?

What each of the 18 stats we compare means, where players compared here usually land, and why cores and supports read so differently.

Where do you stand?

The rate stats below don't grow just by playing more, so they're the fair ones to measure yourself on. The numbers come from players compared on this site, not the whole player base. A stat shows once at least 30 players have it.

Win rate 3 players

People tend to compare players they know or rate highly, so these numbers lean above the average player. They're a fair yardstick for the players who show up here, not a ladder ranking. Updated once a day.

Totals vs rates

Every stat is one point in a duel, but they don't all say the same thing. Totals reward time spent, rates reward how well you play per match or per minute. When a new account takes on a veteran, the totals usually go to the veteran no matter who plays better.

If you win most of these against an older account, you're likely the stronger player per match, even if the headline score says otherwise.

Fair between two accounts of a similar age. Between a fresh account and a veteran, read them as hours, not skill.

Things that skew Dota 2 stats

Cores vs supports

Farm, damage and last hits reward cores. Wards, healing, stuns and assists reward supports. A carry against a support is half a role comparison.

All matches, all time

Averages run over every match OpenDota has, so old habits stay in the numbers.

Questions

Is 500 GPM good in Dota 2?

Cores sit well above supports, so compare GPM with players in the same role.

What's a good win rate in Dota 2?

Matchmaking aims for even games, so most players sit close to 50%. A few points above that over many matches is a real edge.

Why do supports lose on farm?

They leave farm to their cores on purpose. Assists, wards and stuns are where a good support wins.

How often are the benchmarks updated?

Once a day, from the players compared on this site. Players who asked to be removed are left out.
